and this image is the close up of the area highlighted by the small square above. Bear in mind that this image was taken at a distance approximately 10 times as far away from Mars as the final orbit will be.

First Images from Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter
Although it will not start its real science work until later this year, scientists have got their first images from MRO's High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera (HiRISE).
